I've been working this week on an integration project for a new Fortune 500 insurance client of ours.  They use the Siteminder application to manage their employee's identity and authentication into various web-based applications used throughout their Intranet.  Siteminder (from Computer Associates) uses the SAML specification to facilitate the practice of "Single Sign-On", or the ability for a user to log in one time to their organization's network and then have secure, authenticated access to all other systems used by the organization.
